On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Economic Club held a grand opening event for its second season. The event brought together about 100 participants and was, for Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, not only a major event for the Department of Economics but also a celebration for all students across the university interested in economics, finance, and management.
The event opened with a welcome address by Irina Nikitushkina, Head of the Department of Economics. She offered her wishes to students for the new academic year and highlighted the club's role in building a professional community and promoting the development of student-led projects.
During the formal session, the Economic Club team introduced the club's main areas of work, reviewed the achievements of the previous season, and shared key activities and results. Students learned about the various activities the club has planned for the fall semester and were informed of updated participation rules for open events: some club activities are now open not only to club members but to all interested students. Peter Kalmykov, Assistant to the First Vice-Rector of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, attended the opening ceremony of the new season.
After the formal session, club members held the first ice-breaking activity of the season. Participants got to know one another, chatted in a relaxed atmosphere, and had a great time. This also marked the official start of this semester's team-building practice.
The Season 2 opening event further consolidated the Economic Club's position as an important platform for student activities at the university: the event brought together numerous students from the Department of Economics and other faculties of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. The organizers noted that interest in the club continues to grow and that the new season will offer rich and diverse activities.
The club team has already released the fall semester activity schedule. Stay tuned to announcements on the official website and social media platforms — upcoming events include expert exchange sessions, themed seminars, and hands-on activities, along with new networking opportunities. Everyone is welcome to participate!
